In 2004 I content-edited an upcoming book about Search Marketing. Bringing to this project my knowledge of Web development, this work resulted in extensive changes both to the organization of the book and to its technical explanations. As a result of this work for the writers, little work needed to be done by the publisher's editors.
The book, Search Engine Marketing, Inc., by Mike Moran and Bill Hunt, was published in September, 2005. The book instantly became a top-selling search marketing book and has received rave reviews.

Computer Programmer IBM 1984 to 1992
I worked in four areas of programming: perating systems, application development, application design, and testing. During this time I worked on the 3270 PC Operating System (a precursor to the modern Windows Operating System) and BookManager (the software application that revolutionized on-line book reading and information retrieval).
1975-1977 SUNY Stony Brook in Stony Brook, New York, then transferred to
and graduated from SUNY College at New Paltz in 1980.
While at Stony Brook I volunteered at an institution for troubled teens.
At SUNY College at New Paltz I held two adjunct instructor positions.
In the first, I taught a studies skills class designed to help incoming freshmen with deficits to bridge the gap from their
high schools to college level work. The class was designed as a "companion class" to support the students in a content class.
In the second position, I taught two credit-bearing courses in Computer Science which are required for the Computer Science degree.
As an accredited tutor at the college, I accrued over 600 hours of tutoring in English, math, and computer science.
Also during that time I became acquainted with a "Teaching Reading" professor, Dr. Eloise McKnight, and became her essay grader for two years for both her undergraduate and her graduate level teaching reading classes.
While at New Paltz I also studied and practiced crisis intervention skills in a twenty-seven hour training program. In the summers I worked as a student advisor, and one summer I worked as the photography counselor at Ramapo Anchorage Camp in New York, a camp for children with emotional disturbances.
In 1980 I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and my Elementary Education certification
(Nursery through grade 9) with two specialty areas: math and geology, from SUNY College at New Paltz, New Paltz,
New York.
I returned to
college to pursue a computer science degree. During the next four years I worked as a substitute taught in the Mid-Hudson Valley while studying computer science.
In 1984 I accepted an internship with IBM and was subsequently hired as a computer programmer, just a few credits short of
a second degree.
I stayed with IBM for eight years, gaining insight
into the inner workings of large corporations. I worked as a programmer and a tester. From this experience I learned project planning, product design, product test, and technical writing. One product I tested was the first software program that enabled online book reading and look-up.
Also during my career at IBM, I designed and taught a Resume Writing class for employees, and worked with a blind employee to help him study computer science.
In addition, during this time period I designed and taught an adult Continuing Education class at Ulster Community College, New York, titled, "Recovering from Math Anxiety."
In 1991 I married, and over the next twelve years devoted my time to starting my family and taking care of my
four children.
One of my children has a serious disability. This experience of raising my family has provided me with endless writing material
about parenting, disabilities, advocacy, and public education.
At the end of 2002 my essay, "David and the World Trade Center," was published.
This is a tearful true story about how my disabled son helped a woman begin her recovery after the terrorist attack. "David and the WTC" kick-started my writing career, which has been on the fast track ever since. I have been published nationwide, and now write essays, op-ed, and service articles.
My background in counseling, teaching, disabilities, and corporate experience all provide me with passion, opinions, and a lifetime supply of material. My experience in computer science has proved instrumental in my ability to design, create, and maintain this and two other Web sites.
My first book, about a cognitive-behavioral approach to weight control, has just been published in September 2004, and is titled, How to Survive Your Diet and Conquer Your Food Issues Forever." Learn more about How to Survive Your Diet.
I have continued to market my book while writing freelance non-fiction. I recently broke into the newsstand magazines. I have spoken to a third grade class and a fifth grade class about getting published in magazines. I am currently copyediting a technical book on Search Engine Marketing, which is contracted with Prentice Hall. There may be another self-published book in the future.
